The yoke inside a Warplanes Aviator session

I am writing the mechanic the way the Play about text writes it, not the way a session feels in my hands. The card was read on 9 October 2026.

Five campaigns on the Aviator card

Warplanes: WW2 Dogfight puts you in campaigns for the USA, Great Britain, the USSR, Germany and Japan. The same paragraph calls you a pilot and a squadron leader of a unit saved for dangerous missions. That is the frame. It is not a single endless sky.

Airframes the Aviator listing is willing to name

The text says more than 50 historical planes, from fighters to light and heavy bombers. The names it bothers to print are Spitfire, P-51, Hurricane, Lancaster, Il-2 “Shturmovik”, La-5FN, Ju-87 “Stuka”, Fw 200 “Condor” and B-17 “Flying Fortress”. It also says you can repaint, customise and upgrade them. It does not publish a full hangar inventory, so I will not pretend to have counted the rest.

Squadron work beside the Aviator stick

You gather pilots and train them, or you take a mission alone. The base is part of the same job: extra hangars, structures for pilots and crew, anti-aircraft artillery, barrage balloons, and a line about cutting costs. The listing is explicit that the role is wider than flying the plane you are in.

Mission shapes, not a script

Deadly meetings with fighters, protecting ground structures from bombers, fighting over the sea, and flying bombers against strategic targets. Landscapes named: Europe, Africa, Asia, the Russian tundra, Egyptian desert, the Pacific, and the war from American and Japanese cockpits. Those are examples the text offers. I have not played every one of them for this note.

The card also claims detailed 3D graphics and radio chatter in American English, British English, Russian, German and Japanese.
